PRE-STEEL OPERATIONS

Pre-steel operations consist of collecting and blending the raw materials of ore, limestone and coke in a blast furnace and heating them to extreme temperature with the injection of oxygen under pressure.  This process yields molten iron, as opposed to steel.  The difference between iron and steel comes from the purity and brittleness of each; steel being far more pure and far less brittle.
